Despite over 100 “outcomes”, did not get the sense that much progress was made at this year’s dialogue. Any big breakthroughs more likely to be reserved for Xi-Obama meeting at G-20 in September.

According to Xinhua: “the two countries will work on a political settlement in Syria, strengthen dialogue on Afghanistan issue, work under the G20 framework on sustainable and balanced growth of the world economy, and continue to promote China-EU relations. Cooperation will be expanded in education, tourism and media, with more youth exchanges focused on soccer.”

June 12 Liu chaired a seminar on the poverty alleviation work of Li Baoguo.

Li was a professor at Hebei Agricultural University who championed poverty alleviation through afforestation. He successfully afforested more the 93,000 hectares of barren mountains and helped 100,000 farmers out of poverty.

June 7 Wang’s comments on creating rules to penalize cadres who fail to meet standards for political loyalty were published on the CCDI website.

The comments were made during meetings in Beijing and Liaoning province to discuss the regulations.
