Meeting focused on: 1) expanding medical insurance for critical illnesses; 2) establishing better market supervisory mechanisms; and 3) boosting agricultural development.

Zhang Dejiang July 24 Zhang met with representatives of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB).

From China Daily: Zhang stressed that there was nothing Hong Kong could gain by politicizing every issue. He said that none of Hong Kong’s great achievements, such as becoming an international financial center and one of the four “Asian Tigers”, came about by political struggles or street politics. He advised Hong Kong people to give this serious thought.

“I hope the DAB can ‘persist in what is right’ and make a difference in the city,” Zhang said. “The DAB should be willing to take on responsibilities and have a clear-cut stand on fundamental issues.”
